Big Brothers Big Sisters (BBBS) is one of the country's oldest and most highly regarded mentoring programs for youth. Since USC SOM began the partnership, BBBS has enrolled more than 40 pairs of SOM students and matched them with Little Brothers and Sisters in the Columbia area.
Medical students commit to spend at least four hours per month with their Little Brother/Sister for one year or longer. The students find creative things to do -- whether it is kicking a soccer ball, flying a kite or jumping into a pile of raked leaves.
The SOM recently held a "Field Day" on the front lawn complete with face painting, tug of war,
and a water balloon toss. Our medical students are making a difference
in the lives of young people who are in need of an adult friend.
